Shaune Rogatschnig is an established artist and graphic designer living and loving in Cape Town, South Africa. She is endlessly fascinated with the interplay of colour, texture and light and through juicy palette knife application captures the essence of her subject. This approach is on bright display in her latest series of indigenous and fynbos landscapes.
Her love for the natural world and its conservation was emboldened through a Bachelor of Science Joint Honours degree in Environmental and Geographical Science and Archaeology from the University of Cape Town (1998). It is thus unsurprising that she is also drawn to the diverse coastline and wild seas of South Africa and continues to expand on this in her work.
Shaune has been guided and motivated by wonderful teachers and mentors, whose knowledge and expertise continues to influence and inspire her. Since joining the Constantiaberg Art Society and the South African Society of Artists (SASA) in 2012, the connection with other artists and monthly demonstrations has been an invaluable part of her growing artistic education. At the Annual SASA Exhibition, Shaune received a certificate of Commendation for her piece “Leucadendron in the morning Light” in 2014 and for her piece “Joy” in 2016.
In 2016 Shaune completed a 26 piece commission for the globally celebrated chef, Luke Dale-Roberts and Interior designer Sandalene Dale-Roberts. These delicate pieces decorate the walls of their restaurant at The Saxon Hotel and Spa in Johannesburg.
Shaune regularly exhibits at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town and has selected works at the Makiwa Gallery in Franschoek, The Robertson Gallery in Robertson, Red The Gallery, Reddam Centre, Steenberg and Chameleon Gallery in Kalk Bay. She continues to grow in stature and her work adorns numerous local and international homes.
